Konzerthaus Dortmund

Since the opening of the Konzerthaus Dortmund in the autumn of 2002 the Mozart Gesellschaft has held a monthly Mozart matinee on Sundays at 11 o’clock in this very modern concert hall. The Konzerthaus has room for an audience of more than 1.500 and is ideally suitable for Mozart matinees. Before the Konzerthaus was opened the concerts took place in the hall of the Chamber of Commerce and afterwards in the Opera House. The move from the Opera House to the Konzerthaus meant an increase in audience size of about thirty per cent (about 350 seats). This gave the Mozart Gesellschaft the opportunity to offer to those lovers of the Vienna classics seats in the hall who had been previously unable to buy concert tickets. It was going to be interesting to see how the demand for tickets in the new concert hall would develop. The response exceeded all expectations. Right up to the present the concerts are regularly sold out and waiting lists had to be used in the season 2007/2008.
